Katy Coakley

Katy Coakley is a Chicago-based documentary filmmaker and visual storyteller with a deep love for film and a passion for uncovering stories in unexpected places. A recent graduate of Loyola University Chicago, Katy uses documentary filmmaking to explore subjects ranging from local history to environmental awareness, bringing curiosity, and a strong sense of place to each story she tells. Her films have been screened at film festivals across the country, with her latest films, "There's No Planet B!" and "The Understanding of Me", earning Best Documentary at the KinoDrome Film Festival and the Illinois Film Festival. When she's not behind the camera, Katy can usually be found in the movie theatre.
